New York/New England Preps Girls Basketball

The decline in newspaper income has meant that fewer papers are publishing post season honors or covering girls basketball with any regularity or depth. That means that I am unable to find a lot of available information about the girls on my lists. In addition to that, my free time has become limited and I can't devote what little time I have available to tracking down coaches. Therefore, I am unable to continue maintaining my girls high school pages.

The best of luck to all of the girls throughout New England who work so hard. Kudos to the coaches and parents who support them and help them achieve their dreams.

~ HuskyNan (Nancy)

P.S. Girls, don't forget there's more to life than basketball. Remember to have fun and maintain balance. Live life fully; be happy.

These are the criteria for being listed on these pages. Please read the following carefully.

To be listed, a freshman or sophomore, a player must be on the varsity team and:

1. Be a Street & Smith honoree, an NEPSAC All-Star, All-State or All-Area or
2. Be nominated by her high school or AAU coach as being in the top 5-10% of the players her class (e.g., freshman class, sophomore class in the league or area). I prefer that the coach not be a parent, however that's not an absolute requirement.

To be listed, a junior or senior, a player must:

1. Be a Street & Smith honoree, an NEPSAC All-Star, All-State or All-Area or
2. Be ranked nationally/regionally/statewide in high school or as an AAU player, or
3. Be recruited by a Division I or Division II team. "Being recruited" means that the AAU or high school coach has received inquiries about the player and/or there have been specific recruiting materials sent to the player after Sept. 1 of her junior year. The standard questionnaires sent out in a players freshman and sophomore years are not considered recruiting letters.

Please be aware that I will verify the info to the best of my ability. Also, I do not consider the standard questionnaires sent out by colleges in a player's freshman and sophomore years as "being recruited". Being recruited means that the college has been in touch with the younger players' coach(es) or, if a junior or senior, has personally contacted the player herself.
